Perhentian Island

Going to Perhentian Island for a break, even a short one on weekend, definitely worth the time and money spent. I had a blast meeting new people, walking on white sandy beaches and floating on the crystal clear blue sea. Scuba diving in Perhentian Island was also an amazing experience! After two days spending awesome time on that famous island, it is finally time to head home back to Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Besut Bus Station

I have planned to take Perdana Express bus from Kuala Besut to Kuala Lumpur. But first, I had to take the ferry from Perhentian Island to Kuala Besut Jetty. After alighting from the ferry at Kuala Besut, I walked to Kuala Besut Bus Station, which is conveniently located around 10 minutes walking distance from the jetty.

Perhentian Island is one of the top tourist spot in Malaysia. Hence, I expected many visitors especially on weekends. Planning on a smooth journey, I have booked the bus ticket in advance from BusOnlineTicket.com to secure my seat. Once I reached the Perdana Express ticket counter, I only need to exchange for the bus ticket that I bought online.

Hotels Around Kuala Besut Bus Station

I still had time before the departure time, so I walked around the bus station. I noticed that there are two nearby hotels around the bus station called Samudera Hotel and T’Lodge Hotel. They are so close to the bus station and you can reach there within 1-3 minutes walking distance!

The Journey Back to Kuala Lumpur

There are three departure time for Perdana Express bus from Kuala Besut to Kuala Lumpur. You can either choose to depart at 9.00AM, 8.30PM or 9.00PM. The Perdana Express coach is a double-decker Executive class. It has 2+1 seating arrangement hence the interior design and the seats are spacious. On top of that, the bus is neat and clean too.

No wonder Perdana Express is one of the top favourite bus operators among passengers!

The bus trip from Kuala Besut to Kuala Lumpur took around 6 hours and 30 minutes. On the way, the bus stopped for a 30 minutes break in Kuala Lipis. The passengers can use this time for toilet break and get some refreshment at the rest stop. Feeling hungry, I ate Mee Goreng and ordered Teh Tarik for lunch to feed my growling stomach.

Arrival in TBS, Kuala Lumpur

For the rest of the journey, I slept comfortably in my seat, attended by the air conditioning breeze that lulled me to the dreamland. Upon reaching the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) which is the drop off point in Kuala Lumpur, I woke up and prepared to get off the bus.

After making sure all my belongings are with me, I stepped out and saw the bus driver helping the passengers to collect their luggage from the luggage compartment. It was a good and comfortable trip with Perdana Express. I think I would take Perdana Express again for my next getaway trip!

Hentian Duta Bus Terminal

$
0
0

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Duta Bus Terminal predominantly serves the express buses that arrive from the north areas of Kuala Lumpur and also serves the Puduraya Station. This choice is ideal for those who want to avoid city overcrowding and traffic congestion. It also is a drop off only location for travelers coming from the northern states. The Duta Bus Terminal is situated in Jalan Duta across from the Mosque Federal Territory and near the Tun Razak Hockey Stadium. The best way to get there is by taxi since there is no access to a LRT station.

TIME CONSIDERATIONS

Allow for extra travel time in the mornings and during rush hour. In addition, travel delays will typically occur during monsoon season as the roads do flood quickly. In the city areas, traffic jams are imminent because the infrastructures are unable to accommodate the number of vehicles that use them. Adding to that are narrow two lane winding roads that complicate travel even further. Bus drivers are aware of these inconveniences but travelers should allow for them also.

AMENITIES

The Duta Bus Terminal is right by the New Klang Valley Expressway so travel is swift to the northern areas such as Penang, Perak, Perlis, and Kedah. The Duta Bus Terminal offers simple amenities such as restrooms, food stands, and a parking facility in addition to the standard boarding platforms, ticket counters, and taxi waiting stands. The nearest train station is just over two miles away.

SAFETY TIPS

When at all possible, limit the amount of cash carried. Wear clothes that blend in and do not wear excessive or elaborate jewelry. Never leave luggage unattended. Leave any unnecessary credit cards at home. Always leave a copy of passport and other important documents with family prior to departure.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Puduraya Bus Terminal was renamed to Pudu Sentral in 2011 after being completely remodeled due to extreme traffic congestion. This is the primary bus station in Kuala Lumpur now and buses do arrive and depart from here daily for long distance trips. It is wise to keep in mind that during holiday times the bus system can be extremely backed up. Often, alternative options will be posted.

NORTH & SOUTH BUS SERVICE

Pudu Sentral offers northbound travel only to Ipoh, Penang, Cameron Highlands, Langkawi jetties, Alor Setar, and Hat Yai in Thailand. Southbound travel departs from the southern section of the city at the TBS Terminal. This includes travel to Singapore, Tioman jetty, Melaka, and Mersing. Both bus stations are connected by the LRT train line, which is situated directly behind Putra Sentral.

GETTING TO THE BUS TERMINAL

Pudu Sentral can be found between Bukit Bintang and Chinatown, in the heart of the city. From Chinatown, Pudu Sentral can be reached by foot in just a few minutes. It is a good idea to buy tickets in advance if you are traveling during holiday times or on weekends.

BUYING TICKETS

Tickets for bus travel can be bought online up to two hours before departure at BusOnlineTicket.com. Pudu Sentral offers their customers the convenience of on-site hotels, restaurants, and banking options, including ample ATMs. If needed, there is a rooftop parking structure available at Pudu Sentral. Taxi services, as well as coach and shuttle service, also are offered for customers.

Note : All bus operations in Pudu Sentral have recently been relocated to TBS since November 2015.
